Hello
In a laptop I use wvdial to connect to internet.

In interfaces I have
      Code:
auto ppp0
iface ppp0 inet wvdial
provider umts

My wvdial.conf
      Code:
[Dialer Defaults]
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2
Modem Type = USB Modem
Baud = 9600
ISDN = 0
Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0
ISDN = 0

[Dialer umts-pin]
Init3 = AT+CPIN=1234

[Dialer umts]
New PPPD = yes
Dial Command = ATDT
Carrier Check = no
Phone = "*99#"
Password = " "
Username = " "
Stupid Mode = 1
Init4 = AT+CGDCONT=1, "IP","internet"
Dial Attempts = 1

I connect correctly with ifup ppp0. I can use the internet etc.
However the file operstate in /sys/class/net/ppp0 says unknown instead of up. Is that a bug?

The reason that I ask is because I have some troubles when I try to connect to a university server with vpn using wvdial. On the other hand I can connect correctly with vpn through the network manager plugin but in this case I have to use network manager and not wvdial.
Thank you
snvv

I don't believe this means a whole lot (read anything) for PPP, looking at my (PPPoE) router I notice the same 'unknown' response.
